What are AFILS?

Audio Frequency Induction Loop Systems are usually installed to assist Hearing Aid Wearers in areas of high background noise.

The AFILS put a direct sound input to a personal aid utilising the 'Telecoil' facility ('T' switch). This reduces background noise because the internal hearing aid microphone is bypassed in favour of this input, which may come from a dedicated microphone or a loudspeaker system.

Field strengths are checked on installation to ensure conformation to British Standards.
